CONTEST RULES
DEFINITIONS
12 days of giveaways Promotion (hereinafter the "PROMOTION"):
1. ELIGIBILITY
Any student visiting the Dining Hall located at 85 University Private may participate in the Promotion developed by the Student Life Service at the University of Ottawa (hereinafter the "PARTICIPANT").
2. DURATION
- 2.1 The Promotion runs from December 2, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. to December 14, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the Dining Hall at the University of Ottawa.
3. HOW TO PARTICIPATE
- 3.1 A person eligible for the Promotion may participate as long as they use their student card for an entry to the Dining Hall. The participant automatically receives a participation coupon for each entry to the Dining Hall. There is no limit to the number of entries possible per person per promotion day. Entry coupons are only valid for the day on which they are received; the coupon holder will be eligible for the draw of the day they received their coupon. A draw for the Grand Prize will be held on the last day of the promotion on December 13, 2019 and the detailed rules for the grand prize draw are listed in section 5 below.
- 3.2 The dates and times of the eligible days of the promotion and draws are listed in section 4 hereof.
4. DRAWS AND DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIZES
- 4.1 Winners of the daily promotion draws, which take place on the dates indicated in Appendix 1 of these rules, are selected by manual draws.
Each draw, made from among all entries duly filed in accordance with the terms of these rules, is supervised by a representative of the Student Life Service and conducted by an employee of the University. The Marketing Department representative verifies that each entry drawn is valid and in compliance with these rules.
IN THE CASE WHERE THE DRAWN PARTICIPATION IS VALID AND COMPLIANT:
In the event that the drawn entry is valid and complies with these rules, the winner will win the prize associated with that day, as indicated in Appendix 1 of these rules. Winning entries drawn in accordance with these rules are excluded from the grand prize draw described in section 5 hereinafter.
IN THE EVENT THAT THE DRAWN PARTICIPATION IS NOT VALID OR COMPLIANT:
In the event that the drawn entry is not valid and does not comply with these Rules, a new entry is randomly drawn until a valid and compliant entry is drawn, in which case the terms and conditions set out in the section IN THE CASE WHERE THE DRAWED PARTICIPATION IS VALID AND COMPLIANT shall apply.
5. GRAND PRIZE DRAW
- 5.1 A grand prize draw will be held on December 13 at 12:00 p.m. and will contain all entries, excluding those who have previously won prizes during the daily promotion draws, duly completed and submitted during the draw days. Only one (1) draw will be held to determine the overall winner of the final prize worth close to $3,000.
- 5.2 The draw, made from among all entries duly filed in accordance with the terms of these rules, is supervised by a representative of the Student Life Service and conducted by an employee of the University. The Marketing Department representative verifies whether the drawn entry is valid and in compliance with these rules.
IN THE CASE WHERE THE DRAWN PARTICIPATION IS VALID AND COMPLIANT:
In the event that the drawn entry is valid and complies with these rules, the winner will win the prize associated with that day, as indicated in Appendix 1 of these rules.
IN THE EVENT THAT THE DRAWN PARTICIPATION IS NOT VALID OR COMPLIANT:
In the event that the drawn entry is not valid and does not comply with these Rules, a new entry is randomly drawn until a valid and compliant entry is drawn, in which case the terms and conditions set out in the section IN THE CASE WHERE THE DRAWED PARTICIPATION IS VALID AND COMPLIANT shall apply.
6. PRIZE ALLOCATION
- 6.1 The winners designated in accordance with sections 4 and 5 of these rules shall be contacted by telephone or e-mail within fourteen (14) days of the draw by a University staff member, who shall confirm their prize and the details and terms to claim of their prize.
- 6.2 The winner has until January 9, 2020 to confirm their identity and accept the prize awarded to them. If the person cannot be contacted, or if their identity cannot be verified, or if they do not confirm that they accept the prize within the prescribed time, the prize is awarded to the person whose entry was drawn as an "alternate", replacing the initial winner, and so on until the prize is awarded.
- 6.3 At the time of claiming the prize in person, the Student Life Service may require the winner to present a valid piece of photo identification issued by a competent government authority. Once their identity has been verified and confirmed as well as their compliance with the Rules, they will receive their prize.
7. NAME, ADDRESS AND PHOTO
The names, photographs or videos of the winners as well as any other information voluntarily provided by the participant and/or winners may be used not only for the purposes of the draws provided for in these rules, but also for advertising purposes by the Student Life Service, including on the Internet (including on social media). No distribution, printing or advertising rights may be claimed by the winners in this respect.
8. OTHER RESTRICTIONS
- 8.1 All prizes are non-exchangeable and non-transferable.
- 8.2 The Student Life Service shall not be liable to any person if the Promotion is cancelled, delayed or modified in any way.
- 8.3 The Student Life Service may also amend these Rules at any time, in which case revised Rules are made available to the public.
- 8.4 The Student Life Service is not liable to anyone who has not received their participation coupon(s) or right to participate in the Promotion.
- 8.5 The Student Life Service cannot be held responsible for any situation, incident or other event that prevents any person from meeting the participation deadlines or taking possession of their prize within the prescribed time limits.
- 8.6 Costs and expenses not specifically identified in these Rules as being included in a prize are not included, including transportation and travel expenses and personal or other related expenses related to the claim of the prize.
